A few years ago, I had the pleasure of arranging group trips for a university, which is where I first met Daniel. He recently reached out with a very special request — to plan a surprise proposal trip to Italy for his girlfriend, who is a huge Star Wars fan. He had a specific vision: to propose at Villa Balbianella on Lake Como, a location with cinematic significance, as it was featured in “Star Wars” where Anakin and Padme got married. This spot held a special place in his girlfriend’s heart, making it the perfect setting for their engagement.
The complexity of this surprise proposal lay in the intricate details and logistics involved. The proposal needed to be meticulously timed and planned around a two-hour window at Villa Balbianella, which was already sold out on the day he intended to propose. Additionally, the trip included multiple destinations across Italy, requiring seamless transitions between various modes of transportation and activities to ensure a smooth and memorable experience.
Leveraging my longstanding relationship with a destination management company specializing in the Mediterranean region, I began constructing a 9-day itinerary covering Milan, Lake Como, Florence, Tuscany, and Rome. The itinerary was carefully designed to balance leisure, travel, and romantic experiences, culminating in the proposal at Lake Como.
